My father taught me how to play the guitar. guided with tablatures i downloaded from internet, i adopted this instrument as the foundations of my passion for music. |

1999-2000 |
I was introduced to pink floyd, electronic music and chill-out by one of my best friends, fernando mena. Main influences: shiva Chandra, DJ Dr. Leo, Paul Oakenfold, Sandra Collins, S.U.N. Project, Star Sounds Orchestra, Pink Floyd. I began my exploration of sound using a dos-based program called impulse tracker. |

I met DJ Ali (Transelastica) and we decided to give birth to what would be a long-term work relationship. I entered the world of psytrance as a producer, however at a very small scale. dj ali played 4 of my tracks in an outdoors psytrance party at Monte de La Cruz (lost paradise), and this gave me a lot of energy to keep exploring sound and making music. At the same time, I discovered modplug tracker. This software helped me recording my first goa-trance demo. |

I began my music making career. First at a learning level and then at a practical level, where I recorded a second demo, consisting mainly of chill-out ambient music. This year i was contacted to play twice at a local radio show (Zynetika), thanks to Xtian Cambronero from Sentidourbano. Also, I was booked a few times to play at psytrance parties in a new area: the chill-out room (previously unexistant). My first time was at a party called "Mind Hunter", featuring Steve Ronan (Cydonia) at the former "detour" club. I opened for several psytrance DJs at El Yos (global trance sessions, Transelastica), with original chill-out music and as a DJ. this was the year I learned mixing techniques and when it all started. DJ Ali helped me out all the way. |

I opened a few nights at El Yos with minimal/progressive sets at the beginning of the year. I could never practice anyway with cd-players, so basically i had to learn "live". As I learnt DJing, and to handle a crowd that was ready to dance, I moved gradually into harder styles of psytrance. In august, i became a resident DJ for Transelastica and I joined the organization. This was a very productive year which determined the direction of my career until this day. I also ran into Fruity Loops, the most accessible, intuitive, user-friendly and easy to use music production software I've ever seen. this software was also a big key to accomplishing my dreams. In december I played at my first big party: i opened for talamasca at former club "Bash". I also played at other parties in the chill-out room (Dark Soho @ outdoors, Club Milano, Bar El Cielo, Shiva Chandra @ Coliseo, private parties). With Transelastica, we worked on a big production called "Transelastica Experience": a two-day party at Club Coliseo, determined to unite music and arts together. |

I turned out to be hired by El Yos as a resident DJ, and I played psytrance sets bi-monthly. I fully joined Transelastica and ran the website for a few months. I also played in several parties, both public and private. however, this year was mostly destined to music making. It was a great year for El Yos. We threw parties there weekly, with very good assistance. Every wednesday, El Yos was the place to go to have a dose of psychedelic trance for the rest of the week. This is where I learned to play, and where I would practice in front of a crowd. In retrospective, I'm positive this experience was very nourishing. I couldn't afford sounding like an amateur, so i had to learn really fast and put all my energy into DJing. Fortunately, this was good. I participated in the production, organization and direction of the project "Union Planet" in Club Coliseo. It was a series of five parties that aimed at uniting music, dance and arts together. We had different ambiences at every party. Downstairs, house and psytrance to dance all night; upstairs, a very dynamic chill-out room. We added clowns, jugglers, theater plays, fire shows, body painting, dancers, live musicians (percussion, sax, guitar, singers), art galleries, photo galleries, deco, gastronomy, a massage room... it was a very profitable project that lasted for two months and a half. I produced my first song for a modern dance presentation, and this was the beginning of that. In march, I founded with Ali Transelastica's decoration crew: Fluophilus. We decorated a huge number of parties at bars, restaurants, discos, outdoors, warehouses, private homes... It was a great source of work for us. we established the norm of having decoration at parties, which hadn't been implemented before. This year, H handed out at least 150 copies of my music to the people. |

2004 |
The Transelastica residency at El Yos ended in september. After 5 years of existing as a party crew, and 3 years of residence at el yos, we took a break to pursue individually our other goals. This was a year of change and personal growth for me. I lived alone for the most part of the year and had to deal with life in aspects i didn't know until then. The Samorost project was born, dedicated to ambient, trip hop, chill-out and downtempo music. I gave out 50 copies of a homemade demo in september. In november and december, I did a short production at Café 83 Sur on monday nights, called "monday or not". This didn't last long: the bar administrator was fired and lightworks closed operations at café 83 at the end of the year. Plans were radically changed without previous notice. Mostly, this was a year for me to deal with my personal education issues and to settle down and learn how to live. I started looking for other sources of work. |

This year I began studies in electronics and sound engineering. I played at a couple parties and festivals, the best one Brainforest v4.0 (Transelastica). I also started to explore deep house, minimal trance and more off-beat tendencies such as drum n bass. I joined the Costa Rica Space Program community and played in a gig here and there, although this seems to be extinct now. I did another soundtrack for a modern dance group called exánima. |

2007 |
After two years of working with alienware, I felt the need to push myself back into music production. Time has passed and I got married and bought a nice house in a condo in Lomas de Ayarco, Curridabat. I was contacted by Raoul Koning of Conscious Dreams about one of my tracks (Samorost - you) to be released in a compilation for the 10th anniversary of his store in Netherlands: Kokopelli Conscious Dreams. I began lightworks academy as a side project where i take students and music amateurs and teach them everything i know, guide them along the way and help them develop their own projects. |
